You’ve probably heard of a Man Cave, but if a She Shed hasn’t yet come into your vocabulary, get ready for the next big thing in women’s personal space. No longer do men have the monopoly over a bolt-hole; women have stepped up and claimed an area they can call their own – and they are certainly getting creative with how they use it. While Man Caves tend to be quite similar regardless of who the owner is – there’s usually a games console, TV, music, and refrigerator – women are turning their space into something more functional and purpose-led. Here are five ways women are transforming a humble shed into something spectacular.
How much space in your home are you able to give to your hobby? Would you dearly love a sewing machine or state-of-the-art food mixer, but haven’t space? Move your hobby out of your home and into a den of activity, where you can spread out, take over cupboards and work surfaces, and leave things out to dry or cool to your heart’s content.
Have you dreamed of becoming a Boss Lady? Do you have the vision, the business plan, the motivation, but are lacking in a space in which to give birth to your brainchild? Choosing a model like a SteelMaster building is an affordable way to secure a much-needed office or Studio space without having to pay monthly rent nor lose a room in your home.
If you love to be in the great outdoors, exercising your green fingers and creating beauty wherever you go, go one step further towards becoming at one with the garden. A She Shed in the truest sense, your garden shed needn’t be the operational, tool-heavy place you might be more familiar with. When it’s your own space, you can decorate the inside as you wish, keep tools and other equipment neatly tidied away, and make the inside look as beautiful as the outside.
If you have children, a nosy pet, or even an untidy partner, it can be challenging to find a place to escape to and meditate or practice yoga. Think what a treat it would be to have a studio where you can zone out from all the sounds of everyday life, turn on some soft music, light an incense stick, and maybe even enjoy the sounds of birds singing while you allow yourself some headspace.
Have you ever gazed in longing at the library in Beauty and the Beast before glancing ruefully at the one bookcase you have room for in your own home? If so, you might consider converting your She Shed into a book nook with a difference. You can fill the walls with shelves, add a couple of comfy chairs, and if you’re blessed with a beautiful view, you could install some large windows in there too.
Stop trying to cram everything you love into a drawer or cabinet. Treat yourself to a space of your own and take your hobby (or your business) to new heights.
