Update #2

Demolition is done, and now it's wait and dry. There are a number of tasks to be conquered with reconstruction during this time including air conditioning, electrical, more cleanup, etc... before sheet rock and flooring can be initiated. The Gravetts are keeping their heads up and plowing through it. FEMA has been to the house and very responsive. So that's one less thing to stress over. Many thanks to all who have been supportive with donations, hard work, and prayers.

More Info

My brother in law and sister in law, Jay & Melissa Gravett, live in the Bear Creek area of Houston, and their home was flooded by Harvey. They were able to evacuate in their cars loaded down with whatever valuables and essentials they could grab.  They have relocated to their daughter Morgan's home in Pasadena.   Their son Tyler is living in Bryan/College Station.

They were able to get back to the house by boat yesterday (9/1) and grab a few more items, but most of their possessions remain.  There is still over 3 ft. of water in the house.

Since they don't have flood insurance, they will be relying on financial relief from FEMA, which won't come close to covering everything.  They've lost possessions, but the house will be in need of major restoration.

Morgan is getting married next Spring, so they had finances planned out to cover the wedding and all the activities surrounding that.  The flood certainly creates a huge hurdle in trying to cover everything.

Because of the financial pressure the flood creates, I asked the Gravetts if they minded me setting up a funding page.  They feel awkward about it, and are not the type of people to ask for money. They have always worked hard for what they have.  But, this is a very unusual circumstance, and all their friends and family want to be able to help.  The funding page enables anyone, from anywhere, to help.

If you aren't able to make a donation, I understand, and I'm sure many people reading this have financial hardships created by this disaster themselves.  Please keep The Gravetts in your thoughts and prayers.

I will do my best to keep everyone updated on this page, and again, I appreciate anything you can do to support my family members in need.

Update #1

9/6/17 - Jay, Melissa, and Morgan were able to get to the house much easier today, as the water has receded quite a bit. The house is reachable by truck and should be good to go by tomorrow for just about any vehicle. So, tomorrow starts the intense clean up. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this exhausting process.
