Dear Friends and Family,

This summer, I am going on a medical volunteering trip to Uganda. It's through a student organization called GlobeMed. GlobeMed aims to strengthen the movement for global health equity. It empowers students and communities to work together to improve the health of people living in poverty around the world. Each summer, every GlobeMed chapter across the nation sends 4-6 students to various places stricken by poverty over the globe to cut down on the problem of global health inequity.

The chapter at Wayne State travels to Uganda in a partnership with global organization KIHEFO (Kigezi Healthcare Foundation). KIHEFO is a local non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to community development in Uganda and other East African nations. Headed by renowned Dr. Geoffrey Anguyo, KIHEFO operates various clinics treating people for general, dental, HIV, nutritional, and other health services. My team and I will be tackling the nutritional aspect.

We will be performing hands-on work regarding nutritional values such as creating small farms as well as educating community members how to keep healthy diets. We will evaluate the work done by our GlobeMed team members who went on the trip last year and build upon what they have accomplished. Essentially, we want to work to provide nutritional feeding and sustainable agriculture programs.

In order to do so, I am looking to fundraise around $2000 towards this trip, and I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me with my initiative!

Warm regards,

Raghav
