More Info

This winter, Manitoba Youth for Climate Action began striking from school on the first Friday of every month to demand adults take action to protect our climate. They were joined by hundreds of students across the province and 1.5 million students worldwide.

The youth have called on adults again to support and participate in a worldwide strike on September 27, which – in Winnipeg – will be a large-scale public demonstration on the steps of the Manitoba Legislature from Noon - 5pm!  They are demanding that federal governments take emergency measures to fight climate change, and they need our help!

The message is clear: We cannot go about business as usual - our future is at stake and we need massive collective action to save it.

The time is now! Can you or your organization or workplace contribute to help Manitoba Youth for Climate Action hold their General Strike?

Costs include permits, equipment rentals (tents, sound system, washroom facilities), art supplies for banners and posters, medics & safety, ASL interpretation, musical acts, speakers and a large art installation that will dramatize the urgency of the climate crisis, etc.

Please visit the MYCA website - https://www.mbyouthforclimateaction.org– for more information.  If you have any questions, we would be happy to answer in person, by phone or email.

We encourage you to share this letter and details of the strike with anyone you believe would join us in our call for action!

We also encourage you to Sign the Global Climate Strike Pledge here: https://www.mbenergyjustice.org/strike_pledge
