Autism Society Lehigh Valley is a local 501(c)(3) non-profit made up of all volunteers who seek to serve the local community of individuals with autism and their families. We have helped over 400 individuals in 2019 with groups, community outings, and collaborative events with key partners. In these challenging times, we have re-invented our programs to be physically distanced outdoor activities or online groups and activities.
Here is There are countless stories of the many ways the Autism Society Lehigh Valley has improved the lives of people with autism in the community. One such story comes from a mother of a child with autism.
As a mother of a once non-verbal daughter with Autism and sister to a non-verbal brother; I learned the power of believing in the potential of people diagnosed on the severe end of the spectrum. It is so hard to see a child’s abilities when everyone focuses on their deficits and they fall further behind their peers. This is so overwhelming to parents.
What we love about the Autism Society Lehigh Valley is how they create meaningful support within their events to help children with disabilities enjoy the same experiences as other children. My family is so grateful to Autism Society Lehigh Valley further opening up our daughter’s world and help us learn more about her abilities in a more meaningful way. -Cathy
