Tzvi: a 12-year-old born without a left hand due to a birth defect called amniotic band syndrome.

Tzvi is bullied and mocked at school because of his disability. The prosthetic hand provided by Israeli's Ministry of Health is an outdated ‘captain hook’ prosthesis that has only two functions - open and close. Tzvi can’t use his hand to write, tie his shoes, ride a bike and play sports that require the use of both hands, and more importantly, feel like he can do everything that his peers can do.

The Next Step will bring Tzvi to the world-renowned RL Steeper prosthetic facility in London, England to be fitted with a Touch Bionics iLimb Quantum Hand, the most advanced bionic hand available. A life-like and color-accurate cosmetic prosthesis, the bionic hand is powered by muscle sensors that are placed within the socket.

This hand will enable Tzvi to write, hold a fork, and even put on Tefillin for the first time. Most importantly for Tzvi, the gift of a new hand will eliminate the shame associated with his missing limb.
