All over the world shocking refugee-related stories are making the headlines.

My friends Daniela and Nina (both working for a German NGO called "Gemeinsam für Afrika") are particularly concerned about the destiny of the children that had to leave their country, reaching Germany often after a long backbreaking journey.

Already during their recent maternity leave Daniela and Nina committed themselves to support the refugee camp "Refugium" in the Park Center Herzberge in Berlin collecting clothes, baby necessities and toys.

During their work they realised the comparably large number of children that didn't had a place in the difficult everyday life saturated by sorrows and fears.

Considering the children's frightful backgrounds, traumatised by their escape and marked by the loss of their home, parents, grandparents and/or siblings, Daniela and Nina proposed to develop in collaboration with a professional trainer a course program that helps the children to forget their experiences even for a little while. The course aims at providing the children with creative shelter to dance, sing, jump, play, paint and most importantly laugh, or simply to be a child.

To provide you with some more facts and numbers: The course program started in May 13 and is currently scheduled to run 6 weeks. Every Wednesday at 10am the children from the refugee camp "Refugium" meet to do kids stuff and enjoy themselves under supervision of the profession trainer, Daniela and Nina. Every course day costs 35 Euro, which is 210 Euros for the initial 6 weeks. Since they want to buy some toys and pillows to create a comfortable and fun environment they would initially like to ask for 300 Euro.

Although both of them will use their previous experience campaigning for the worthy cause to raise funds for this project, I (Ines, living in Australia, trying to support them digitally) would like to ask your support to give them the opportunity to expand the program beyond the initially planned 6 weeks or even make it a permanent event at "Refugium"

Therefore, spend a couple of your bucks to "Give Refugee Children a SMILE".

Thank you!
