Many of the places I've been to are considered third world countries. As an American, it can be eye-opening to see just how far our money can stretch. While this is a beautiful thing when you're backpacking on a tight budget, it can also sting when you see the people of these countries struggling or surviving with less.
I've had the idea to create a personal giving project for over a year now and its time to bring it to life!
South America is full of life and diversity. Now, Lindsay and I have the opportunity to live and travel throughout much of the continent. Along the way, we would love to help and give back to some of the special people we meet.
That's how this page, and your help come into the picture! We'd like to create a personalized charity that tailors to not just the people being helped, but also the giver!
The idea is to allow you to choose specifically how you want your donation to be spent. For example, if you want to donate $10 for a big bag of candy and a toy for a homeless child, then that's exactly what we'll do. If you want to donate $25 for a weeks worth (or however long that may stretch) of groceries for a struggling family, we will go out and make that happen. Give as much or as little as you feel comfortable.
One of the coolest parts of all this is that we'll take you along this journey with us. We'll document the whole experience from us buying the items you requested to giving those items to the individuals in need. We'll put it all together in a short slideshow/video and tag you in it so you can see your money directly making an impact in the world.
*Make sure when you donate to leave a comment stating how you want your proceeds to be used, whether it is specific, or you want us to decide how best to make an impact with your donation.
**100% of proceeds will go towards the charity and directly to those in need, we're not pocketing a penny. (Keep in mind Fundly does keep a small percentage of proceeds however)
Can’t donate? Please share. Even a quick share on Facebook can help.
