Levy is my sister in law, and she’s been working in Singapore as a nurse since 2011 and is a Singapore PR since 2009.During Levy's pregnancy at 28 weeks, the doctor announced that she requires to admit due to the growth of Baby Kayden. At 28 weeks, Baby Kayden should weigh at least 1.2kg, however, with the scan, Baby Kayden weight was only 662g.

Doctor mentioned Levy has the symptoms of preeclampsia, and has prepared us that they may bring the baby out anytime soon; and Baby Kayden will required to be in the ICU for at least 2 to 3 months. Preeclampsia is a pregnancy complication characterised by high blood pressure and signs of damage to another organ system, most often the liver and kidneys. After admission, Levy had two steroid injections for the baby, as doctor says steroids can speed up the development of the baby Kayden's lungs a lot. Nurses collected 24 hours of urine samples and required her blood for investigation.

On the 3rd day of Levy’s admission, the result came back wasn't positive, and doctor confirmed Levy's diagnosis of preeclampsia. After a prolonged observation in the hospital, Levy was finally delivered on the 7th day of Levy’s admission, which is on 24 July 2020.Doctor had to resuscitate Baby Kayden when he first comes out and he weighs only 746g. Baby Kayden needs to be on the endotracheal tube (ET), through the mouth and then into the airway and is required UV line for parenteral nutrition, IA line for blood extraction, also the IV plug.

On the 2nd day after Baby Kayden arrival, doctor try to remove him from the endotracheal tube (ET) and start feeding Baby Kayden with donated breastmilk at 1ml/6hourly, as Levy wasn't able to extract any milk even with the help of the lactation nurse. At the same time, we now receive news of baby Kayden weight drop, raising bilirubin level that requires phototherapy.Baby Kayden has pulled through his day 3, but unfortunately, doctor requires Baby Kayden to be on the endotracheal tube (ET) again as he is not doing well breathing on his own, and the weight drops further. We were told that Baby Kayden need to increase the phototherapy, and weight continues to drop to 640g.
