Update #3

Just two months from today I will be boarding a plane headed to Nicaragua! It’s still so unreal that I get to be a part of something so much bigger than myself in an area I didn’t even know existed just 4 years ago. As I prepare for the journey expectancy of what God will do, be in prayer for my friends who are already there making an impact in Nicaragua, that funds will come in not just for my trip in February, but also for the projects that Compassion Causes works on year round to provide education and clean water to people who wouldn’t have access to those simple resources otherwise. Since I’m relying on support from people like you to make this trip possible, every contribution helps! Thank you to those who have been keeping Nica in your prayers and have already supported 💙 🇳🇮

More Info

Almost two years ago,  I went on a missions trip with my internship program to Nicaragua through an organization called Compassion Causes. Honestly, until I heard about the trip I wasn't even so sure where Nicaragua was (I was for sure guessing Africa) but I felt a pull to go so strong I couldn't ignore it. During the 10 days we spent in Nicaragua I was amazed at how God was moving through the locals and humbled that I got to play a small part of something so much bigger than myself or the part I played, it was the first time it really clicked for me what it meant to be a part of the Church. Because we were a smaller team, we were able to be flexible with real needs of the community as they were happening including street evangelism, kids camps, a city-wide worship night, and prayer. As a team, we grew closer to each other and I made wonderful friends with the Compassion Causes partners in Nicaragua.

After that trip, even months later, I couldn't shake Nicaragua and was lucky enough to get more involved with Compassion Causes. Since then, Causes has launched the Causes Leadership Academy and gained even more influence in unreached communities of Nicaragua. It's been wonderful helping all I can from the states but God has made it clear it's time to go back and I am so stinkin' excited!

In February-March I will be spending a couple weeks in Matagalpa and El Transito  to help with different projects including water wells, helping out at the leadership academy, and whatever else the community needs while I am there! My goal is $1800 to cover flights, food, and other expenses for the trip but anything made over that amount or what I need will go directly to helping fund those projects!

I highly encourage you checkout Compassion Causes at compassioncauses.org to learn more about what we get to do in Nica and how you can be praying for our projects! If you have any questions or would like to know how you can get more involved I would LOVE to connect with you!

Update #2

Tickets are booked! Thank you to everyone who has already supported, thankfully we were able to get a great deal on a flight to Nica February 20th-March 7th! One of my closest friends and favorite person to do ministry with, Katie, will be joining me on this mission so prayers for the both of us are much appreciated as we get details and plans together. If you're wondering at all what to get me for Christmas, supporting this trip with any contribution would mean so much! There is still much to be done but I am so excited for what God is going to do.

Update #1

Hey guys!

For giving Tuesday I thought I would share some more details about what is happening with Compassion Causes and Nicaragua. You may or may not have heard, but it has been an incredibly difficult few months for the country between violence and floods. Compassion Causes is all about people using the gifts and abilities they have to do what they can to meet real needs and there are 2 main strategies Causes pours into to make a difference.

1. Clean water. This is such a simple thing that most of us don’t really need to think about, but it is so vital and difficult to come by for too many people in Nicaragua. Compassion Causes has been drilling wells for communities for years and in 2019 aim to drill 20 new wells to provide 5,000 people with clean drinking water. This also helps pour into the economy as Causes hires locals for all of our well projects.

2. Education. Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty, most kids in Leon Nicaragua drop out of school before they’re a teenager. Through the Causes Leadership Academy we are able to provide not only a free education to kids but allow adults to go back to school as well and receive mentorship and personal connection and care.

**Bonus Tool**: Hope. While I’m in Nicaragua I have the opportunity to share the love of Jesus to those in need of some hope. It’s amazing how God has the ability to move most in our brokenness and to not love on the people of Nicaragua as Jesus would during this time would be an incredible opportunity wasted.

This week I buy my tickets for the trip! I need to hit $600 in order to grab tickets before prices shoot up so please consider joining me on this journey to bring hope to Nica. Every bit helps!
