For 35 years, Habitat for Humanity’s Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project has shone a spotlight on the need for decent, affordable housing in the U.S. and around the world. The 2018 Carter Work Project continues the tradition and will be hosted by Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County in Indiana.

As part of the 2018 Carter Work Project, homeowners will work alongside President and Mrs. Carter and hundreds of other volunteers to build or improve more than 30 homes in Mishawaka and South Bend. The need for affordable housing is at an all-time high. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 16.6 percent of people living in St. Joseph County and 27 percent of those living in South Bend, Indiana, live in poverty. For families struggling to secure a decent place to live, an affordable house can provide the strength, stability and independence they need to create a better life for themselves.

Inspiring millions, President and Mrs. Carter have worked alongside 101,276 volunteers in 14 countries to build, renovate and repair 4,290 homes.
