Hello Fam. I'm a 24 year military veteran whose fallen on hard times recently as I've exhausted most of my funds post COVID. I have severe PTSD and am unemployable. My wife and kids left me after I came out as gay
I left the military with severe PTSD and multiple physical ailments all of which made me unemployable. When I came out to my wife, she didn't take it well after 24 years of marriage, can't say I blame her. The result was divorce, and I have to pay monthly alimony and child support, which I gladly do. Right about this time I moved into an apartment that offered a fair rent, but since post COVID, the rent has sky rocketed and so has inflation and interest rates basically negating any chance to get a house.
When you add insurance, utilities, and other monthly bills (phone, cable, internet....ect) and food for me and a room mate who is having trouble finding a job currently. I also take care of my baby girl Leah (3 yo Rag doll Cat) and everything she needs on a monthly basis. I'm barely making ends meet every month and future outlook is bleak as everything will increase in price.
I currently live off my retirement and small disability checks. For now, it's a month to month paycheck with nothing saved, so any emergencies or just regular medical/Dental/Vision is currently impossible. Any referrals to deal with my PTSD with psychiatrist/Psychology I cannot afford.
I realize that I'm asking a lot. I just worry for my financial future as a 55yo gay man who has to make it to 62 in order to get social security. I'm responsible for the situation I'm in, but I hope you are in a position to help out. Thank you for letting me share.
