Early this year Garrett started having vision changes in his left eye. He went to the eye Dr and Garretts Drs found a mass on his brain in March and he was recommended to get into a neurologist but they were pretty far out and put on a waiting list. While on the waiting list his mom called frequently to try and get him in, finally in August he was given an appointment for November 15th. When they arrived that the neurologists office they were made aware that the MRI that was done in March showed bleeding and the mass was putting tremendous pressure on his optic nerve as well as his pituitary gland. He was sent straight to the hospital for another MRI and more tests. And the results came back that it is likely a cyst however it is growing and still bleeding. He has been admitted to the hospital and will under go a very delicate brain surgery to remove the mass on Monday morning. The ophthalmologist says his sight may not return completely if at all. Garrett's mom has taken the next week (at least) off of work to be there with him and her income is much needed to care for the family.
