I'm raising funds for an educational trip abroad with a close friend. We depart June 2019 which is a 4-week trip with EIL. The Japan: Japanimation: Anime & Manga program is where we can expand our drawing knowledge.
7 days left of the school year, I'm looking forward to working this summer so I can save more funds for my trip to Japan!
Here are some program highlights I'd like to share with you.
On this EIL program I will gain a better understanding of Art, Social Change and the Japanese Language. We will be able to broaden our perspective on Japanese culture during our home-stay component on Hokkaido, Japan’s second-largest island, known for its natural beauty and the Ainu culture.
We will learn to express ourselves in the anime and manga capital of the world. I'll develop illustration skills and design techniques with behind-the-scenes insight from industry experts.
I'll get the chance to work with professional artists from the Japanese art scene as well as student animators in Tokyo. I'll have the opportunity to take introductory classes at a local anime school to practice my character development, animation, manga techniques, voice-over recording, and animate my own character in the process.
We will visit a Buddhist temple and study the art of Japanese calligraphy.
The program begins and ends in Tokyo, one of the world’s most densely populated and vibrant cities. We will get to play games in the arcades in Akihabara, the city’s anime, manga, and tech district. Wander through the busy market streets of Ameyoko, ride the escalators at Ginza’s skyscraping department stores, and peer into your future as you consult the (written) oracle at Sensō-ji, the oldest temple in Tokyo. Discover more of Japanese history by visiting shrines and hot springs or participating in a traditional tea ceremony.
I want to thank you for your support in helping me reach my goal!
