I'm raising money for my research trip to Nepal with the organization “Swastha Nepal”. I will research the effects of societal patriarchy on mental health and development to spread awareness of these issues.
As you may know, I am a freshman at William & Mary and I am the treasurer of the organization and one-credit course “Swastha Nepal”. “Swastha Nepal '' aims to expose health related issues in Nepal through research. Recently our focus has been on the effects of societal patriarchy on mental health development. Composed and led by students, we meet once a week to discuss our research project. We discuss the culture of Nepal, including the religions, history, and social issues in preparation for our annual 10-day research trip.
Nepal has a patriarchal culture, which often results in the domestic abuse of women and children, commonly leading to degrading mental health and development, and suicide. This year we are working with the NGO “Her Farm”. “Her Farm” aims to support victims of domestic abuse to be self-sufficient and safe by providing shelter and resources. We plan to interview women from “Her Farm” who have been impacted by patriarchy, and collect data and write a publication to expose these injustices.
Your donation would help me to fund my research, which includes my travel expenses, housing, and food during my research trip, which overall will allow me to shed light on these issues so that something can be done.
