WHY AM I DOING THIS?

Some of my friends and I will not be able to return to university due to COVID-19-related travel restrictions, and can already feel this impact our education. I am, however, one of the lucky few to have access to education now at all. Unfortunately, not all students have been afforded the same privilege. Children whose living conditions would benefit the most from higher levels of education are also the ones most heavily impacted by this pandemic. I chanced upon this opportunity to contribute through my friend Saad and his team over at Regional Relief.

WHO DOES THIS FUNDRAISING HELP?

The Cambodian Community Dream Organization (CCDO) is a charity that focuses on aspects of childhood development to provide them with a better future. The CCDO aims to improve the lives of Cambodian children by providing early childhood education in preschools, English classes from grade 4, computer classes, sports, library and arts education. An area of CCDO's work that I am particularly passionate about is their comprehensive puberty curriculum in secondary schools, in which they raise awareness of human trafficking and conduct prevention workshops. Education is a basic human right. That this basic need is met in this COVID-19 pandemic is a greater priority than ever.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

I will be running 200km over 20 days starting from 18 AUG 20 to 06 SEPT 20 to raise funds for the CCDO, as the annual school fee (including school supplies and uniform) for each child is 200 SGD (150 USD). I am hoping to raise awareness of the cross-border efforts that we can take to help our neighbours and through the process of raising funds have an excuse to meet up with my friends for some fun (arguable cause i am not sure how many of them will think running is fun?? i will be finding out soon enough)

HOW CAN YOU CONTRIBUTE?

I seek donors to match my total distance in funds to secure a child's access to education for a year. As 200 SGD might be a hefty amount, you may also choose to:1. Run with me <woohoo> for a day (10km)! With this, help me spread the message on social media, tag a couple of buddies and match the distance in donation (10 SGD).2. Donate 5 days worth of running (50 SGD), or 25% of annual school fees.3. Donate 10 days worth of running (100 SGD), or 50% of annual school fees.4. Donate 15 days worth of running (150 SGD), or 75 % of annual school fees.Or of course as mentioned,5. Donate 20 days worth of running (200 SGD), or 100% of one child’s annual school fees.Any amount donated would mean a great deal to me, the CCDO and hopefully, the children.
