If you know me you know that Birth work, womb health/recovery, midwifery and herbal medicine is EVERYTHING to me, it's my contribution to my people and my community and my way of being revolutionary. I did not choose this path I simply answered the ancestral calling to do what I was put on this earth to do.
I am calling on my community and everyone who believes in me for help to make this dream of mine to study under black and indigenous Afro-Latina traditional midwifes come true so that I may learn the true ways of midwifery, birth/postpartum support & herbal medicine so that I can uplift my community and really show up for my people. I truly believe that going back to the old ways will have a great and positive impact on my targeted audience. (BIPOC w/ a special concentration on Black & hispanic birthing folks)
Ive been given the opportunity by my Doula instructor to study at Asociación de Parteras Unidas del Pacífico located in Buenaventura, Colombia. Buenaventura, Colombia consist of over 2,000 Black traditional midwives. They have an immense amount of knowledge of plant medicine, ceremonies, traditional midwifery, and various other traditional ways of being like music, dance, and cooking!
These are skills in which I can integrate into my offerings to my community!
During this immersion I will have the opportunity to connect with, learn from, and witness the true art of traditional midwifery.
This trip will be August 5-14, 2022
