For actors in Kyiv who are defending their city and their lives. I produced films in Kyiv for 10 years (Sundance-winning doc "Russian Woodpecker"). Money is for generators, winter gear, and medicines. Receipts provided.
Our people are volunteers, so they don't get the latest helmets and body armor -- but ours I've heard are much appreciated, and have protected more than one actor or film professional from harm. Thank you!
I’ve worked as a theater director, film director, and production company head in Kyiv for the past ten years, and I’ve come to know hundreds of actors and other theater / film professionals, who are currently on the frontlines.
One of my dearest friends in Kyiv is the star of Ukrainian cinema, Dima Sova, and he has organized a defense unit composed of other actors he’s worked with. His wife Dasha (they married just last year), decided to remain in Kyiv to help Dima and his team. Just a few months ago she starred in "Cabaret" in Ukraine’s national theater.
This troupe desperately needs help. Supplies, food, medicines, tents, coats and so much more. If you are in the film or theater world, and want to help your colleagues in Ukraine, please consider donating to their effort. I’m covering all fees so that 100% will go into the hands of actors defending Kyiv.
