My Name is Steve McDonough from Staunton VA. My longtime friend of many years, Alan Obaugh is in need of help. As most of you know, Alan has struggled with health issues the majority of his adult life. While 2020 has been a terrible year for all of us, Alan has had numerous surgeries this year and is expected to have another in January 2021. As most of you know, Alan has been fighting prostate cancer since 2011 and continues treating monthly with his urologist. He began with oncologist in May of this year due to further complications. In August of this year Alan fell and fractured his femur. He had surgery, Alan began to have pain in his stomach area. He was taken to Augusta Health via ambulance and then transported to Roanoke Memorial where he had ileostomy surgery. This was major surgery that took 7 hours. After surgery Alan was taken to ICU where he remained intubated for another 12 hours. He then returned to the O.R and was sewn back up.(standard procedure for this surgery). This was a result of complications from Crohn's disease. During his stay at the hospital, they discovered Alan had a broken back as a result of the fall back in August. About a week after the ileostomy, Alan underwent back surgery. After 7 long weeks in the hospital Alan returned home on December 7, 2020 and is now receiving home health care. He will return to Roanoke on December 23, 2020 to meet with his surgeon regarding the next surgery which should take place soon thereafter. Alan has a long road ahead of him. If Alan is able to return to work, it will not be anytime soon. Anything and everything would help. we are raising money to help out with medical bills, mortgage payments, medications, etc...Alan will receive these funds as a beneficiary so he can withdraw them as he needs financial support. I can personally guarantee this man is tough as nails but currently needs our help to get through these difficult times. Thank you for your prayers and donations. Warmest Regards, Steve McDonough
