About #ForNico

As most of you know, I'm a Bergen Catholic grad. A fellow Bergen Catholic grad, Dominic Santoli, was hit with some devastating news recently when his 2 year old son Nico, was diagnosed with unilateral retinoblastoma (cancer of the eye). Dominic was a teacher at BC and an assistant LB coach as well, but due to his sons illness his employment situation is a mess. Currently, Nico is undergoing chemo treatments down in Philadelphia, but its shaping up to be a long and expensive road. The medical bills have just about wiped out the family and everyone throughout Bergen County is pitching in to do different fundraising opportunities to help defer some of the costs of Nicos medical treatment. Literally everyone has come together in this time of need for the Santoli family and even at the Bergen vs. Bosco game, many of the Bosco kids had Nico shirts on, which for those of you who know the rivalry, you'll understand how significant this is. Dom has had #ForNico shirts printed up and when you check out the photo gallery above, you'll see that they've been able to get celebrities involved, with many taking photos wearing the ForNico shirt including Leonardo DiCaprio, Jessica Simpson, Dwayne Johnson (The Rock), and a bunch of the RU football guys like Vallone, Khas, Tim Wright, Nova, Darius Hamilton, Leonte Carroo, and Steve B. There's even a photo from recently when Coach Flood invited Dom and Nico down to spend the day at RU, and it has them with the captains and the entire coaching staff with the Knight. Everyone is getting involved, including RU Lax and many other sports teams from other colleges like Michigan hockey. Not to mention a ton of NFL players, and even guys like Urban Meyer. In light of the holiday spirit, I am setting up a donation page and once it's done, I hope that everyone could find it in their hearts to donate, whether its a lot or a little.
