We are eager to serve 10,000 plates of hot, vegetarian food to the homeless this year in Franklin Square, DC! Your donation directly funds ingredients and transport from our kitchen at St. Augustine's Episcopal Church.
Organized by: Bhakti Yoga DC
Hosted by: St. Augustine's Episcopal Church
Food for Love DC is an interfaith, volunteer-based relief project founded in 2016. With so many faith groups serving the homeless in Franklin Square on weekends, we saw the need to step outside of our cozy homes and offices to serve every Friday afternoon.
The results have been staggering! We serve 200 hot plates of food every Friday at 12pm. Our neighbors are touched to know we are serving wholesome food with no strings attached, warming hearts every week. The food is always offered before being served to the community. We also often bake desserts and distribute flowers.
All ingredients and equipment are donated, including pots, pans, and ayurvedic ingredients like mung dal, asafetida and turmeric. Our meals are always healthy, vegetarian and cruelty-free. We provide the heartiest lunch possible, knowing it is the day's only meal for some of our brothers and sisters.
Thank you for your kind support! We couldn't do this without you.
