I work at a clinic within the OU Health Sciences Center campus in OKC, OK and trying to keep up a food pantry for our employees who are working on the front line of caring for our patients, including COVID 19 patients.
We are a very special department, we are part of the Family Medicine Clinic, but the emphasis is definitely on the FAMILY part of that. I have been a part of this department for 3 years now. We have a committee who raise money by fundraising and donations from Faculty to allow for some traditions full of wonderful activities. Our two main activities is providing Thanksgiving lunch for all of our employees and providing a Christmas bonus to our staff. It is not much but it is appreciated and needed. We have a great morale in our building because of the great things this committee does. Since the COVID 19 crisis has started, our employees have been working hard and long hours and have not been able to go to the stores or find items needed for their homes. Many of them make very little and are now having to feed their children that are at home alone eating them out of house and home. The committee has used a lot of the funds that have been collected to help with the traditions that it carries out, to supply the food pantry. Because it is being used and fundraising has dropped to nothing as well, we will be running out of funds soon. We would like to ask anyone if you can to please donate to this cause, it will allow us to continue the food pantry for as long as it is needed and still be able to have the funds for our traditions. Your donation, however much it is, will be appreciated.
