Flute Fund!

Flute Fund!

From Gloria Koch

I'm raising money to buy a flute! I was fortunate to receive a $500 scholarship from the 1000 Dreams Scholarship. The agreement in getting this award is that I would raise the remaining money needed to buy the flute.

I started playing the flute in my freshman year. I had always wanted to play it, and with the encouragement of my music teacher and the donation of a flute to the school, I was able to start playing.

I've been using a borrowed flute for my entire high school career.

This fall, I applied for the 1000 Dreams Scholarship and found out earlier this month that I had received a scholarship of $500 to buy a flute!

I was so happy that I screamed and ran downstairs to tell my mom!

Part of the agreement of this scholarship was that I would raise the remaining money needed to buy a flute. Since I've been playing the flute for 4 years, I'm looking for an intermediate level flute, so it costs more than a beginner's flute.

However, I love playing the flute and I will continue playing it for the rest of my life.

I'm currently in the process of testing out flutes to find one to buy, so this campaign number is an estimate of how much money I will need to buy the flute.

If I find a flute that is less than $1,300, rest assured that I will still be using all additional money to support my musical dreams!

There are a few flute gadgets I'd like to invest in called the finger port and the thumb port. These attach on to the flute and allow players with smaller hands to have better reach and balance while playing.

I would also like to buy a ukelele before I go to college. My main musical passion is singing, and I've been lucky enough to borrow a ukelele from the school for the past couple of months to learn to play and sing along with.

After that, I'm going to start saving my money for musical endeavors in college.

Overall, the reason I want to invest in my musical passions is because I'm going into Women's Ministry as my college major. I believe that God will be able to use my musical abilities to help serve and support people, especially in the church.
