I graduated from high school in the top 3% of my class without the boost of a financially my backing me as most of my peers did. My family didn't own a car and our home was outside of the area that the school bus would pick my siblings and up. Instead, we used public transportation to commute everywhere. Sometimes in the rain, sometimes at night, and nearly always in the sweltering heat. I worried if the bus didn't come I'd have to walk. The bus ride was 2 to 3 hours despite a straight cut car ride being only 22 mins. This speaks greatly to the walk and the ample number of favors I had to call in from friends that certainly aways went out of their way to help me. With the help and motivation of my friends, I saw blessings and encouragement to keep going forward in my pursuit of a better life for myself and my future family.
Now that I'm shipping off to college, I never want to have to go through such worries again.
