Hi! My name is Emily Goodpaster and I’m trying to raise $10,000 for first aid kits for Ukraine.

While I was born in the Midwest, my great grandparents, grandparents, and mother grew up in the Ukrainian village of Soposhyn, next to Zhovkva, just north of Lviv.  Some of my best childhood memories are of my visits to Ukraine, and I still have lots of relatives and family friends who live there. Since the start of the war, the people of Ukraine have been doing everything they can to protect their freedom, their land, and their history. Our friends and family have been helping in many ways, and some are even fighting on the front lines.

As a high school student who will soon be attending college for pre-med studies, I wanted to do something that would help save lives in Ukraine. After speaking with US Army Veterans and medical professionals both here and in Ukraine, I have designed a personal medical kit that will give Ukrainian people what they need most. These kits contain tourniquets, QuickClot, splints, gauze, shears, bandages, and more. Even a $50 donation is enough to build an individual first aid kit that will save the lives of Ukrainian civilians and soldiers alike. No kit can be found with these supplies for such a reasonable price. I am hoping to raise enough money to build at least 200 kits.

I am personally assembling each kit and will send these to my family in Soposhyn, Ukraine. The kits then will be transferred to soldiers on the front lines.

Our Ukrainian relatives and friends have told us that they “simply cannot get these supplies in Ukraine right now due to the demands of the war”. Our product donations from the USA can make a big difference in saving their lives. Unlike some other charities, there is no overhead here and every dollar donated goes directly to buying high quality medical supplies that we have here in the USA.

Over the past several weeks, my mom and I have already started raising money for the medical supplies by hosting Pysanky (Ukrainian Easter Eggs) workshops, where people learn the art of traditional Ukrainian Pysanky and discuss Ukrainian culture. We were able to raise over $7000 with this effort, and already delivered many supplies to Ukraine in late April.

I have personally crafted several Pysanky eggs that I would like to give away to our supporters: three highest donors and one randomly picked donor will each receive one of my Pysanky. I and the people of Ukraine would like for you to have them as a token of appreciation for your support.

I want to thank you for reading my story, and for the endless support of the American people.  No amount of words can describe the gratefulness Ukrainians feel for the support that people like you and I are able to provide to them. They know the world supports them, and the USA is among their closest allies. They really do need our help and we can make a difference!

Please join us in supporting the people of Ukraine.

Our first batch of first aid kits sent to Ukraine. The children in our home town helped to sew bags and made blue/yellow angels for each bag.
