I was born a year after YR was founded, and what a miracle it is for me to live in a time and community where YR exists. I work at YR because I believe in what we do - my life is proof that YR changes you for the infinitely better. I also work at YR because I have so much to give back and pay forward in honor of the people who invested in me - who haven't stopped investing in me since I was 14 years old. YR opened my heart to others and to myself. The #YRfam showed up for me in friendship, love and servant leadership when I was young, so that I could love and serve others better all my life. YR is the most important thing that has happened to me, and I will never, ever stop trying to give more than I've been given by my #YRfam. This year I am particularly grateful for the adults surrounding YR. We live, work and commune together in such a rare and beautiful way. These adults - my friends - model for YR students and alumni what true community looks like - the kind that is by your side without hesitation during the tough stuff, and on the ground with you LOLing during the good stuff. Forever & a day. On #YRday, we're celebrating this amazing organization that connects students, families and people who believe in Youth Resources' mission: Engaging youth in leadership development and community service. Or in my words: Showing kids they're loved and giving them opportunities to absolutely blow their potential out of the water.
What is YR Day?
YR Day is a 24-hour online party and fundraising event for YR and the people who make YR possible (that’s you). Whether you’re a student, alumni, parent, volunteer or just a fan with a special place in your heart for YR - this celebration is for you!
Now, you might be asking, “If YR Day is a celebration for me, then why am I being asked to give?”
The truth is, the life changing programs that YR provides to area youth are largely dependent on private support. So while celebrating YR’s present and past is definitely worthwhile, it’s also our responsibility to look ahead to future students. Their YR experiences are not yet guaranteed, which is why we ask for your help.
