I am partnering with Action in Africa to develop a photography program for the children to learn about documenting moments in life. Help me spread the magic of photography by donating.
“Look and think before opening the shutter. The heart and mind are the true lens of the camera.” – Berenice Abbott
As many of you know, I am about to travel to Africa to photograph and work with non-profit organization Action in Africa. Action in Africa strives to educate, inspire, and empower people in Uganda by providing sustained education, allowing individuals to reach their untapped potential and become the next leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs in their country.
It’s been weighing heavily on my heart for some time now about how I can give back with my photography. How can I make a difference with my love of documenting life? Action in Africa was just that. I am incredibly blessed to see this dream finally unfold right as we kick off 2017 and I am so excited for this opportunity to share my love for photography with the children of Action in Africa.
Most of these children have never seen a camera, have never had their photo taken, or have never seen a photo of themselves. I am partnering with Action in Africa to develop a program within this non-profit school system to include photography in their curriculum this spring, teaching children about documenting the fleeting moments in life.
To keep technology mostly out of it and just focus on documentation, I am bringing as many Fuji Instamax Mini Cameras as I can. These cameras print photos instantly and will provide that special moment when the photo appears right before your eyes, capturing whatever happened just seconds ago.
While I am there, I will also be behind the camera photographing for Action in Africa to document their story as an incredible non-profit. My hope is to return yearly to continue giving back to this program.
As I get ready to board my flight on January 31st, I would like to ask for your help and support in my efforts with Action in Africa. The cameras and paper will remain at Action in Africa for the children to use throughout the years to continue documenting their stories. I am hoping to bring over at least 20 cameras with paper for each. Any donation counts – please help me reach my goal and donate by January 20th.Your donation will make the magic of photography accessible to many deserving children.
Thank you and much love to you all!
