More Info

I am honored and privileged to have the opportunity to represent the City of Whittier, and to represent the people of my district on the Whittier City Council.

As a Libertarian I believe: The Government’s job both locally and nationally is to get out of the way of businesses and individuals and get as much government oversight out of our daily lives.

While I believe that our government representatives should spend less, government should be focused on spending in the areas that the private sector cannot, while eliminating intrusion to businesses and citizens and work on making the lives of the people they represent easier and happier.

I specialize in business recruitment, planning and problems solving. My role in representing the city of Whittier would be to build the Uptown Whittier neighborhood into a destination location that drives business tax revenue while simultaneously giving the residents of our wonderful city more options and nicer neighborhoods. Together, we can build Whittier into the business friendly, revenue generating area that we have all hoped it would be for many years. With 16 years of business recruitment and development I feel confident that I can bring new companies and attractive business opportunities to the desirable Uptown Whittier area.

UPTOWN WHITTIER BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

  • Allowing Businesses to grow by eliminating outdated and needless regulations and fees on our businesses
  • Offering incentives for existing businesses to open additional storefronts.
  • Spending my time as your representative to recruit businesses from other cities to open new locations in our new, business friendly Whittier environment.
  • Creating more parking opportunities. Make our current, under-utilized parking structure better, and zone additional land to add one more
  • Working with our existing businesses to figure out how the city can best help them to build and develop
  • An area cannot rely on only 1 street to drive growth. Success will be dependent on developing the additional streets that cross Greenleaf and are adjacent. Adding higher end restaurants, bars, shops, bookstores and other retail stores on; Bright, Comstock, Penn, Hadley, Bailey, Wardman and Philadelphia.

TRAFFIC ALLEVIATION

Alleviating traffic must and SHOULD be a government  focus. The backup that happens in the mornings on Beverly Blvd, between the 605 fwy and Greenleaf has become unattainable and stressful.

  • I have a plan to work with Mathematicians at Cal State Fullerton, who are able to create a timing system to lights that will create better traffic flow,
  • This plan, in conjunction of a proposal to study on expanding lanes between the freeway and Norwalk Ave will increase traffic flow and increase safety for the business commuters and the parents trying to safely get their kids to school at Mill, Orange Grove, Longfellow, Dexter, Whittier High as well as relieving the stress we all have faced when trying to get home after work.
  • Work with our Representatives, like Ian Calderon, to get additional state dollars for road repairs and improvements

NEW COMMISSIONS, NEW FOCUS

It is time to enact new commissions in Whittier, to help address and solve the ever changing challenges and needs of Whittier. As your City Council Member, I will enact via new city ordinance the forming of new city commissions:

  • “Cable and Internet Services Commission” to study and recommend changes to Whittier’s policy of having one internet provider per area. When you are only given 1 choice for your internet and TV provider, you have NO CHOICE.
  • “Public Parks and Trails Safety Commission” will be a compliment commission to the current “Parks, Recreation Commission” with the sole focus of increasing safety of Whittier’s vast and frequently utilized hiking trails and Greenway Path. We can expand the hours and ease of use while also making them safer for our citizens.
  • "Parking and Transportation Commission" is an existing commission focused on our parking problems. As your City Council Member, I will request a new focus from the commission. Having the Commission re-focus on parking ticket enforcement fairness, and new parking solutions to the Uptown Whittier area, we can take a burden off our citizens stuck with over-punitive and unnecessary tickets and add additional parking options in Uptown.
