Music matters. Support Live the Spirit Residency & the Englewood Jazz Festival today.

Each year the Englewood Jazz Festival brings music directly to the community for FREE.  Produced by Live the Spirit Residency and held in beautiful Hamilton Park on Chicago's South Side, the festival provides an opportunity for people to come together for a positive experience. Live the Spirit Residency and the Englewood Jazz Festival are deeply rooted in and reflect the rich cultural heritage of the Englewood community. Our mission is to increase the musical resources of the community and connect the past to the present through programs and partnerships with artists and arts organizations committed to music, mentoring, and inter-generational knowledge exchange.

This year is a special year and we need your support more than ever. 2019 is a 20th-anniversary reunion of the founding members of the Live the Spirit Residency Big Band.  Founded by saxophonist Ernest Dawkins, a past president of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians, Live the Spirit Residency Big Band was created to provide seasoned and emerging musicians with an opportunity to connect with each other and compose and perform new music.  The 2019 Englewood Jazz Festival features original Big Band founding members and internationally renowned artists Corey Wilkes, Maurice Brown, Nicole Mitchell, Greg Ward, Junius Paul, Marquis Hill, Alexis Lombre, Isaiah Spencer among others.

In addition to producing the Englewood Jazz Festival every year FOR FREE, Live the Spirit Residency provides youth music education; supplying young people with opportunities, a positive path, and visions for a brighter future. Its a lot to accomplish and we truly need your help.  Give what you can and join us on September 21 and 22 to see what your support helps create. Come and be part of the community. Give now and help us create something that matters.
