On March 4th, the Supreme Court hears oral arguments for the case which threatens to overturn Roe v. Wade. If Roe should be overturned, 20 states are poised to ban access to abortion—a scenario that would affect *more than a third* of women of reproductive age in this country. Last year, patients from 38 different states travelled to Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains. In a region of our country where abortion is under threat, we are one of the last safe havens for reproductive care in the Midwest and Rocky Mountains.
Together We Resist is an annual fundraising campaign organized by Planned Parenthood Votes Colorado (PPVC) in response to politicians’ and protesters’ attempts to misinform, intimidate, harass, and shame our staff and patients. In the early 2000’s, these anti-choice protesters formed a campaign, known as “40 Days for Life", which organizes anti-reproductive health activists to protest outside of our health centers 24 hours-a-day for 40 days.
Our campaign, Together We Resist, serves to remind our staff and patients that we will never waver in our commitment to reproductive care, justice, and education – no matter who is pounding at our door. Nobody should have to face harassment or threats in order to provide or receive health care. This is a crucial time for us to raise awareness about the very real experiences that some individuals face to access abortion services in this country, and to continue our work to protect and expand access to health care, elect reproductive health champions, and pass proactive legislation.
We will not be deterred. Together, we resist.
Under the umbrella of Planned Parenthood Rocky Mountains Action Fund, Planned Parenthood Votes Colorado is a 501 (c)(4) social welfare organization, conducting political advocacy to protect access to the services provided by Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains.
