***PUP-DATE - Monday, 7/17/2021***
.
These past 2-weeks Jada continues to be cute as ever, and continues to ✨THRIVE✨ post-surgery!!!

More Info

Additional forms of Donations can be sent via Venmo: @Kate-Gallaher (Cell Phone ends in x8994)

_________________________________________________________

A minimum of $6,000 is required to put her into surgery.*This amount was LOANED to mom (Kate), and needs to be repaid ASAP. This amount is included in the total amount of this fundraiser ($15,500)

What Happened?: On Wednesday, (6/23) Jada had digested a rope toy and puked majority of it up. Unfortunately not all of it was able to come out and there is a piece stuck in her small intestines' that required emergency surgery.

This beautiful, sweet-loving AMAZING girl has been by my side as my best friend & emotional support dogs through multiple moves, SO much loss, an emotional, financial, and physically abusive relationship, this damn pandemic.. and SO much more I won't get into right now!! She means the absolute world to me, I truly don't know how I could have gotten through the violent relationship, and now ongoing court case, without her.

Any donation of any amount here, directly to the hospital for this surgery, or to me directly is GREATLY appreciated!!!

Further details & updates will be provided as Jada is in recovery! I needed to get this up ASAP because the low-end estimate was $11K, and I truly do not have this money... the surgery ended up being more extensive with the removal of 2-tumors and her spleen. As of now (6/26), the invoice is coming in closer to the higher end of $15,500. As I said previously, Jada means the world to me and we have been through so much together to say the least. She has been a beacon in my life, saving me & getting me through my darkest moments. This surgery to save her life was not an option, she is my child & I would do absolutely anything for her. Yes, dogs do not live as long as people and when her time comes I will know... but this is not it.

This seems to of been a blessing in disguise, given I had no idea about not just one but two masses they found during surgery. One of which was on her spleen and could have ruptured if this had not been discovered now.

Thank you all so much for the ongoing, unconditional love and support!!! I am forever grateful for every single one of you! I truly could not do this without you all. It really does take a village!!"

Update #14

*** UPDATE 6/30 @ 12:00PM ***

Jada is doing AMAZING!

Aside from understandably, respectfully wanting her personal space from the other dogs (no one to be sniffing her sutures and what not of course!) and from being a tad extra tired, she is her normal self! She has always hated the heat, so she is (obviously) living it up in the AC!!

Upon arriving home, Jada quickly acclimated herself right back to her favorite spot - the couch! To do her favorite activity - SLEEP! lol!!

She prefers to eat her meals laying down from the couch, and instead of mush - she has requested medium-sized chunks of wet-food from the can - hand-fed of course! Mom has gotten some chicken & rice that will be cooked, & getting some lean beef as well. Given her older age, she tends to have a naturally hard time keeping on weight, so beef has always been a great fix for this! Of course this has been approved by the vet that, post-surgery, continuing with beef was OK

Last night was truly surreal! My babygirl is HOME, safe & sound! This did not really hit me until we were on the couch together, and she let out a big sigh. That kind of sigh you do when you are finally able to finally have that needed space after hard, stressful day. The kind where you feel & know that you can mentally & physically breathe again; that you are safe. To be able to look at her and gently press my forehead against hers with my eyes closed and tell her how much I love her, how perfect she is, how incredible she is inside & out. To tell her how strong she is mentally & physically... to be able to do this again, to have what feels like time being given BACK to me was surreal.. and I am forever grateful for this opportunity to be with her again.

I carried her upstairs to bed, and we initially fell asleep together on the ground in her bed - she's always the perfect little spoon! She slept soundly, and has not leaked (pee) at all - which she had been doing at the hospital while initially recovering. She was excited to get up this morning and go outside. Her stool continues to improve, and is about 90% solid!!! She can do the 3-back steps that are carpeted to go outside & come back in - although I monitor her the whole way to make sure she does this slowly & one paw at a time!

She ate breakfast & had her meds! Initially she spit her meds out, as she was 'displeased' with the wet food & meds together... she put in a request for peanut butter - so that's obviously what she has now! Mom scoops her hand in and covers the pills with peanut butter, and Jada happily eats everything right up!! Her siblings are loving this too as they get a small scoop of peanut butter too!

FOLLOW-UP VET VISITS:
She will go back in 10 - 14 days for her sutures to be seen by the vet just to ensure everything as needed!

COURT:
For anyone who is just catching-up now, I (Kate, Jada's mom), am a Domestic Violence Survivor. I am very open about my story &, despite my best efforts to not have to press charges, I am currently in an open court case in order to protect myself, my family, friends, & both previous & future targets from this individual. I share this here because while Jada has been part of my life since 2015, she has been such a VITAL part of my healing journey since the violent relationship we endured that happened hardly 2-years ago. I was suppose to have court today (Wednesday, 6/30), but it got rescheduled last minute to this Friday, (7/2). To say I am grateful to be able to have her here by my side through this ongoing case is an UNDERSTATEMENT! No words can describe my gratitude! Jada truly has saved my life in so many ways... to be able to save her life is the LEAST that I could do! But I could NEVER have done this without all of YOU!

AGE is truly just a number!!! I have known 6-month old dogs who didn't make it through a simple surgery to 2-year old dogs having heart failure, to 7-year old dog having bone cancer throughout their whole body. For anyone who doesn't already know, Jada is 13-YEARS OLD! Going on **14** August 2nd! She is SO incredibly strong, and while I know this - she continues to blow me away! She does not act 13, and has always been relatively healthy! Over the years I have had her get 2-dental cleanings & some benign cysts removed.

JADA'S STORY:
I won't get too detailed into this now, as I realize this update is already quite long! But a brief touch on when I first got Jada, she was NOT the dog she is today! This beautiful, sweet girl was scared of her own SHADOW, and would hear a man's voice and start shaking. She lived in a drug-house most of her life, & found her way to me at 8-years old.

There were multiple scenarios where she almost did not even end up with me. She has come SO FAR over the years, and I simply cannot imagine my life without her. I know her day will eventually come, because of the bullshit reality we face that our four-legged babies do not live as long as humans. But this was not her time. This, actually, was a blessing in disguise! If this had not happened, we never would have known about the two tumors; one of which was on her spleen, and could have ruptured.

THANK YOU ALL! I love each & everyone of you so much! I could not do this without you! THANK YOU for helping save my girl's life!

PLEASE continue to SHARE Jada's journey to help pay cover the remaining

Update #11

*** UPDATE - 6/28 @ 7:00PM ***

I went to visit our girl this evening and was so excited when I got to see Jada walking up to my car with the nurse!! This is the first visit we have had together both outside of her kennel and physically outside! We took a brief stroll up a hill and sat by a bench together, where she ate some wet food / mush put together by the wonderful staff. She still sticks her nose up at the dry food, but enjoys the mush & specifically being hand fed the wet food... what a queen, lol!!

The doctor continues to be really happy with how Jada has progressed and feels good about her coming home tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday, 6/29)!!!! I would have LOVED to have her home today, however due to my work schedule the vet & I agreed that it was best to wait to ensure she's monitored closely and not left solo for too long yet. She'd likely sleep the whole time, but with the first 3-5 days being the most vital as the sutures close it is what is best for Jada. She has been taken completely off of tube feeding, IV fluids, & pain meds have been reduced. She continues to have diarrhea, but it has improved as well!

I can't stop thinking about how time is really one of the only things we cannot get back. It was such an amazing feeling to see her outside & walking! And to get to see her eyes light-up for the food as I hand fed it to her, getting to hear her little grunts & piggy noises as I call them. She loved being outside, smelling the fresh-air, receiving head scratches & ear rubs! Thank you ALL who have helped & continue to help make this possible!!

As of right now, the invoice is at $13,042.58 - this does NOT include tonight's overnight care & tomorrow's care during the day. Since Saturday we have raised an additional $2,481. This is incredible!! Thank you SO much everyone for continuing to following, share, & support Jada's journey. I could not have done this without each one of you!

Below is the breakdown of the current numbers:

$$ BREAKDOWN $$
✨Cash: $80
✨Fundly: $2,900
✨Venmo: $3,514
✨Donations Paid Directly to Invoice: $965
✨Total $$ Amount Raised: $7,459
✨Left to Hit ($15,500) Goal: $8,041
.
If 230 people donate $20, we will reach $10,000, bringing us to just $522 shy of the end goal!! I know this is absolutely possible, but as I have said before - I cannot do this by myself!! It is because of every single one of you who have provided so much unconditional love & support that we have already made it this far in just 3-days! Jada & I continue to need your help. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - it takes a village!

Update #8

*** UPDATE - 6/28, @ 11:00PM ***

Visited our girl this evening and she is doing wonderful! When I walked into the kennel she lifted her head & her eyes had lit-up, something i haven't seen from her in days! So she is in good spirits, and loved all the ear rubs I gave her! The staff all love her as well, and she is continuing to progress in great strides - especially being only 48-hours post-surgery. The food being fed through the tube has been doubled, and she has began to eat on her own small amounts. She is also fully on oral medication now, no longer needs an EKG monitor, and IV Fluids have been removed.

The GOAL, here on Fundly, has changed to $10,000 because of the donations we have received both via Venmo & donations made directly online to the invoice with Blue Pearl.

I wanted to provide an updated breakdown of the numbers tonight, but my brain has decided to not work the rest of the evening. Instead I'll have an update tomorrow when I'll be a little more rested and can be more thorough!

Thank you ALL so, so much for everything!!!!! I cannot express my gratitude enough!!

With love,

Update #5

*** UPDATE - 6/26, 9:00PM ***

Jada has officially been UP & WALKING!!! As the nurse was changing her bedding she decided to try and strut her way into the middle of the main room, LOL!! (Sounds like my girl)! She is being switched to oral medication & continues to receive food through the tube in her nose - however has shown interest in wanting to eat actual food!

This photo of her and I from this morning, before she had decided she was ready to strut around the place. (: I have a few photos from tonight too, including an adorable video of her snoring away as she was soundly sleeping, comfortably in her kennel as I sat beside her. I will be putting together an Instagram where I can share more updates and videos.

$$$ FUNDRAISING UPDATE $$$

As many of you may already know, $6,000 was required in order to put Jada into the emergency surgery yesterday that saved her life. I was able to utilize Care Credit ($1,665), & was generously loaned the remaining amount needed ($4,335). Both of these I honestly do not have the income to pay. The total amount of this fundraiser covers the invoice that, as of now, comes in at just under $15,500. Below is the breakdown of where we're at & what is left needing to be raised!

$$ BREAKDOWN $$
Fundly: $2,489
Venmo: $2,314
Donations Paid Directly to Invoice: $175
Total $$ Amount Raised: $4,978
Left to Hit Goal: $10,522

If 500 people donate $20, we will reach $10,000, bringing us to just $522 shy of the end goal!! I know this is absolutely possible, but I cannot do this by myself - I have not been able to do this by myself in the first place. It is because of every single one of you who have provided so much unconditional love & support that we have already made it this far in hardly 24-hours! Jada and I continue to need your help. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - it takes a village!

Please continue to help us reach our goal by re-sharing this link & Jada's story!

I will be back at the hospital tomorrow morning around 6:30AM to see our girl and provide another update! <3

Update #2

***UPDATE - 6/25 @ 7:00pm ***

JADA HAS SUCCESSFULLY MADE IT THROUGH & OUT OF SURGERY! They were able to remove her spleen entirely, along with the mass that was in there. Plus there was an additional mass removed, the vet said there was no additional oozing / rupture with either of these, which is good! The foreign object is confirmed to be part of a rope toy and has been safely removed as well!

Jada's blood pressure was low and received some medication that has helped with this. She continues to do OK and is receiving 24/7 care! This first night is critical, and will be monitored like a hawk! I will be going to visit with her this evening just to see her, give her some extra love, & make sure she continues to pull through strong! Reminding her of all the love & support there is outside of those hospital walls waiting for her!!

Again, thank you ALL so, so much for the ongoing love & support. Between here (Fundly) & my Venmo (@Kate-Gallaher) we have officially raised an incredible $935 in just a few hours!! Please continue to help by sharing this link far & wide! Every $1 counts!

Update #1

***SURGERY UPDATE - Friday, 6/25 @ 6:00PM***

Jada is currently in surgery and is doing OK under the anesthesia! They are removing a foreign object from her small intestine. They also discovered a mass on her spleen, and since dogs can successfully live without their spleen we have decided to remove the spleen entirely.

As of right now between this fundraiser & my Venmo account (@Kate-Gallaher) - We have raised $765 !!!!!! I know we have a ways to go... but this is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! I cannot express enough how grateful I am.

Thank you ALL again, so so much for all of your ongoing love, support, & donations!! I will truly never be able to thank you all enough!
