Embrace The Ride is a bikepacking fundraiser created by me(Michelle) to help bring awareness to the mental and emotional health issues that the LGBTQ+ community endures and to help encourage healing in the Cleveland LGBTQ+ community. I am a queer woman so I know firsthand the struggles that are faced by just existing as you are within our society. Everyone deserves acceptance and to feel represented. On top of all of the social adversities of being treated as less than/not normal or enough, many LGBTQ+ experience a lot of pain and trauma within their own homes.

"Research suggests that LGBTQ+ individuals face health disparities linked to societal stigma, discrimination, and denial of their civil and human rights. Discrimination against LGBTQ+ persons has been associated with high rates of psychiatric disorders, substance abuse, and suicide. Personal, family, and social acceptance of sexual orientation and gender identity affects the mental health and personal safety of LGBT individuals. "

The best way we can help one another is to show compassion. To really understand that we all belong and our differences are what makes us great.

I wanted to find a way to help my community and all of those who are experiencing what I’ve been through. With that came this idea; My friend and I will be bikepacking the Ohio To Erie Trail from May 25th to May 30th, biking a total of 326 miles! We will begin in Cincinnati and end in Cleveland, Ohio. To complete this we will sleep in our tents at campgrounds along the trail and plan on sleeping in an airbnb to wash our clothes.

Please support us by showing your love to the Cleveland LGBT center. Any amount of money/donation is greatly appreciated, and we love and thank you in advance.

Remember, if nothing else just be kind to one another because you could be saving a life. We all have one thing in common- we are human before anything else. Let’s save lives and help the center create safe and healing places for those in need!

Thank you!
