Raising funds to help economically disadvantaged girls in Tanzania pursue Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics fields.
Meet our new EAGF scholar Victoria. Victoria is the oldest of four siblings. She lives with her entire family in a rented room. She at times had to move to and from her home to one of her teachers, or sometimes to neighbours so that she would be able to study. Her mother does manual labour for a living and earns minimum wage. As a result, Victoria’s basic and educational needs were not met. Despite these challenges, she was among the best and brightest in her school. She scored division one and her dream is to become a medical doctor. "I thank God for helping me overcome”, she says. Elevate A Girl Foundation is excited to provide a scholarship that will cover all educational costs and expenses for the duration of her studies. Pictured above is Victoria and her mother in the center together with our EAGF representatives in Tanzania.
Meet Belinda (w/her two baby brothers), our newest EAGF scholar. Belinda had exceptional performance and obtained division two in her National Form Four examinations despite the adversities. Her dad is unemployed with occasional welding gigs (he can go for months without any job) and her mother does housekeeping and subsistence farming to earn some money. With support from Elevate A Girl Foundation through our generous donors, Belinda will attend Mpanda Girls High School for her A-level studies. She will be studying PCM - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Her dream is to become an Engineer.
Glory is one of five children. Her parents work very hard as subsistence farmers but are unable to meet the needs of the family. Her mother also has a small business selling maandazi (pastry) and her father sometimes gets furniture gigs to increase the income at home but things have still been very difficult. “I am ready to miss my daily meal for my child to go to school” says Glory’s mother. Despite hardships, Glory had been able to maintain excellent grades. It was great news for the family to hear that Glory will be receiving a scholarship from our foundation. Glory is studying science and hopes to become a medical doctor.
