WHAT WE DO

We embrace an integrated capacity building approach to education, health, water and sanitation.

Working with school children and youth

Our support to  education, health and sanitation through the following projects.

Education sponsorship for needy children and the Youth

We provide full education sponsorship to needy children and the youth from needy families. We pay school fees and provide them with other school needs like books and uniforms.

Livelihood Capacity Building Project for families

Under this project needy families are trained in vegetable growing, poultry keeping and other profitable enterprises they can engage in  to support themselves in terms of school fees and other needs.

Informal skills training for needy children and the youth

Under this project  beneficiaries are trained in short informal courses that suit a child/youth in a rural setting and whose skills are highly demanded.  We have identified bicycle repair, soap making, carpentry and tailoring as being ideal for needy children and youth in a rural setting.

Support to needy students to join tertiary institutions

In many parts of Malawi many youths who complete secondary school level education and have passed are unable to enrol for education in tertiary institutions. We therefore lobby for bursaries and scholarships for these needy students to enable them join universities and other tertiary institutions.

Working with schools

The school environment contributes a lot towards the stay of the child in school. Most of the schools in Malawi are operating in dilapidated structures. During rainy season, it is therefore difficult for teachers to conduct teaching. Interventions are therefore required to improve these schools, sanitation, clean water and hygiene facilities.

Infrastructure improvement project for needy schools

In this regard we support to renovate infrastructure in some of the needy schools and also provide water, sanitation and hygiene facilities.  This will go a long way in encouraging children to stay in school.

Mindset change project for children and youth in school

Most of the learners in schools in many areas in Malawi understand life issues basing on what they hear in the communities where they live.  A girl child in school still believes the girls can go nowhere in education. We therefore want to cause mindset change to influence these learners to stop involving in behaviours which they indulge in due to their understanding of life issues. We intend to create model schools in various parts of the country with messages that will motivate a child to stay in school.
