Ecole Batossouo, a K-5 school in the village of Baham, western Cameroon. $20.00 buys one student a year's worth of school supplies. Donations are overseen by Solange Kamgaing & family, Emilie Karsenty & Mme. Dumas.
It is crucial that these children go to school. In the village it is the only activity for them, and these are the lucky ones. Without school, children must work in the fields with their parents. One teacher costs $600 per year and the village is not supported by the government for this salary. Books and school supplies are also precious, with $20 supporting a child for the year.
The educated children are the ones who later will help take care of their parents by going to work in the city, so it is essential that they have a good education. Usually these children love school very much. They love to learn and are thirsty for it. They are also eager to make friends. These children are the hope of the village and their parents who did not have this opportunity to go to school.
