Early Bird Child Care

Early Bird Child Care

From Kara Ann Dansby

I'm raising money to start a daycare in Port Arthur. We have most of what we need saved up but still need to make sure we can cover second month bills if necessary and have enough learning activities for the children.

I've been working over 50 hours a week since my first daughter was six months old. Finding everything we want in a daycare thay will work with the hours we need has been so difficult so I decided if I couldn't find everything I wanted in a daycare, I'd make my own. We've been saving up tonopen for a while now and we're almost there. Recently I've been given an opportunity to stay at home with my kids and realized how much I was missing by being at work all the time. All that said, I've decided that while being a business owner is inevitably going to be a huge undertaking and certainly not a part time opportunity, I'm taking this on full time to allow myself the flexibility to be the mom I want to be. My goal is to make my daycare a place where parents don't have to feel like they're dropping their kids off somewhere they'll be unhappy or unloved during the day. Often times we talk about our coworkers as our work family because we spend more time with them than our family but neglect to remember that the same holds true for our kids at daycare and/or school. I want to end that. I will also hold extended hours from 5am to 7pm at no extra charge.
