Dzi Wopoano Nyi Foundation

From Sicley Williams

We are raising money to provide children with school supplies and also to buy tools to clean up the beaches in our city. Our main goal is to also be able to have these kind of events more often and not just once a year.

Dzi wopoano nyi foundation, which means “ Keep your beach clean” started in 2015 by Ras Kobi, owner of Bamboo Village.

Ras Kobi started beach cleanups with the children of the community and his guests in 2015 as an effort to keep the beaches clean in his area and give the children an eco friendly project to be apart of. From there he began to get the children around Cape Coast, mostly children of the fishermen, to assist with cleaning the beach regularly while he created activities like art, football matches, and classes for them in return. This initiative went forward to Ras Kobi organizing beach days for the children ( usually around holidays) where he gifted the children clothes, gifts, notebooks, and pencils, as well as foot balls. The event grew to the children participating in fun activities like dance competitions and football matches. As the yearly events continue to grow, more children come around to participate. Ras Kobi and his foundation put these events together with profits from his Bamboo Village and the support of friends.

This year Wellness Sanctuary is collaborating with Dzi wopoano nyi foundation for a beach cleanup of Castle Beach side ( Near the Cape Coast dungeon), ancestral libation, and Beach day for the children of Cape coast. Many of these children come from working class families with limited funds. The groups have grown from 20 or so children to now over 100 children. We are asking for your assistance in making this event even better for the children.
