The pandemic has wreaked havoc for youth organizations and DYSA has suffered a great loss in our ability to fund mentor activities, service learning projects, athletic training, and opportunities for competitive play.
Since 2017, Developing Youth through Sports, Social Skills, and Arts (DYSA), has helped 40+ underprivileged boys and girls participate in Youth Travel Ball events and mentoring activities in our community. These boys and girls go on to be productive and successful students at their elementary, middle, and high schools. More importantly, they were given the chance to develop confidence, to feel wanted and to develop dreams for their future, dreams that have included becoming engineers, accountants, doctors, lawyers and politicians.
This past year we had our first class of graduates. They are attending the following schools; Caldwell Tech (Basketball), Bridgewater (Football), US Army, UNC Pembroke (Football), Shaw U. (Football), Johnston CC and UNC Greensboro.
Our goal for 2021 is to promote our athletes by providing them with opportunities to play the game in which they love and to gain valuable life skills. As the recent pandemic (COVID-19) put a cease to the nation and the world, we were hit tremendously with our annual fundraiser and only raised 5% of our goal. With that being said, we are seeking donations and or sponsorships, no amount is too small, to assist us with travel and costs associated with the upcoming tournaments, college visits and service learning projects.
