This past November (2017) I began a project to create a new kind of dynamically-changing music album. It was released for free to the public at www.dynamicalbumproject.com. The goal is to create new kinds of streaming albums where the music isn't the same on every listen. Rather than having a single recording behind a given track, there can be many recordings. The musicians work to create multiple variations of each track - different arrangements, solos, tempi, etc. These different variations can then be presented to listeners at specific times. So musicians can create 'nighttime' versions of a tune, or ones specifically for rainy days, etc.

This can only be done with streaming applications and isn't possible with physical media.

The recordings for Craig Alston Live came from a two-day live recording session at An die Musik in Baltimore, MD on November 7th and 8th. It featured many of Baltimore City's most prominent musicians. The album changes drastically between day and night. By way of example, there are four different versions of Mickey's Tune - two each from the day and night cycles. All four are featured on the album.

$5000 will go to Craig Alston Live Part 2. We're hoping to make it an annual event!

All funds go to musicians, server bandwidth costs, instrument rentals, etc.
