Downtown Troy Business Improvement District (BID)

Supporting the Downtown Troy Business Improvement District (BID) is crucial for enhancing business conditions, job creation, tourism and the overall quality of life within the district. Donations play a pivotal role in achieving these objectives and ensuring Downtown Troy remains a desirable place to live, visit, and enjoy.

Every contribution to the BID directly benefits the community it serves. In 2023, thanks to the generosity of donors, remarkable accomplishments were made:

• Significant growth in social media following, reaching over 26,000 followers spanning from NYC to Burlington, VT.
• Marketing support provided to over 30 businesses, resulting in a 15% increase in visibility.
• Formation of partnerships with local influencers and over 50 news hits throughout the year.
• Beautification efforts, including the addition of 100 hanging baskets and planting of 20 flower-filled planters, funded by the successful Earth Day fundraiser.
• Acquisition of an electric vehicle to reduce the carbon footprint and assist in maintenance activities, made possible with support from the Troy Redevelopment Foundation.
• Introduction of holiday decorations on 3rd and Congress St through local donations.
• Heavy support provided to initiatives like the Troy Art Block, volunteer clean-ups, and events such as Troy River Festival, Pig Out, and more.
• Establishment of the Quality of Life committee to address safety concerns and improve communication with city authorities.

While the BID receives a tax assessment, additional funds are necessary to support businesses and organize events effectively.

Sponsorships and donations play a critical role in making Downtown Troy vibrant and lively. 

Moving into 2024, the goals include expanding beautification efforts, intensifying marketing initiatives, organizing smaller events, increase in foot-traffic/tourism and enhancing community clean-up endeavors, among others.
