The Open Door seeks $5,000 from new donors to help us continue food shelf operations during the COVID-19 crisis. Any donation from a NEW donor will be matched dollar for dollar for a total gift of $10,000.
The Open Door food pantry continues to feed the food insecure during the COVID-19 crisis through our fixed-site Eagan Pantry and the only mobile food pantry serving low-income families in Dakota County, MN.
In a typical year, TOD serves more than 7,000 individuals per month through our programs. In our first week of the COVID-related Mobile Lunchbox program more than 1,000 children at several locations were provided with a healthy lunch and fresh fruits to take home. We anticipate serving this volume of children weekly as the crisis wears on.
March is our second most important fundraising month of the year in a normal year, and in the face of the Coronavirus outbreak and the loss of our most well-attended fundraising event, March is more important than ever. Our goal is to raise $5,000 from new donors by April 17 to help our team of volunteers and staff continue making food available for as long as it’s needed. Each donation - BIG or small - will be matched dollar for dollar up to $5,000. All donations help us continue to remain responsive to the changing needs of our community during this time. Together, we can find innovative ways to bring food to our neighbors right here in Dakota County. With gratitude,Jason VianaExecutive Director
