More Info

In a city where the District Attorney is more focused on arresting police officers than he is on prosecuting criminals, we have yet seen another hero taken off our streets. This hero has been removed from duty at a time when we cannot afford to have fewer officers in our communities as they are being ravaged by gun violence on a daily basis. Officer Levitt has proudly served the City of Philadelphia for 12 years and has done so with honor and integrity. He has been assigned to take guns and drugs off the street for the majority of his career which makes our city just a little bit safer each time. In recent months the District Attorney’s Office along with Internal Affairs has engaged in a citywide witch hunt, benching numerous officers for trivial reasons with no explanation.

Uncle Larry along with Internal Affairs must justify their existence by pointing fingers from their Ivory Towers as the cops on the street end up taking all the risk and doing all the work.  Officer Levitt has become a victim of this Ivory Tower based witch hunt and has since lost his job as a police officer and was charged as a criminal for simply doing his job. In the years we have all worked with Officer Levitt we know that these accusations are appalling and unfounded.

We will see that he is reinstated and continues to serve the community with the Honor and Integrity he always has. With the support of the FOP and fellow officers such as yourselves, we can help the Levitt family in this tumultuous time. Any donation is appreciated and helps as the period of transition is going to be tough on his family. Please be safe and watch each other’s back because it is obvious no one else is.

Update #2

Good Afternoon,

We wanted to thank you all for supporting Officer Dan Levitt through this unimaginable time. Yesterday was a tough day for himself, his family, and his brothers and sisters in blue. At 10 AM on Thursday March 17, Levitt turned himself in to internal affairs to be processed. With the support of the FOP, friends, family, coworkers, and strangers alike Levitt was surrounded by positive vibes and gracious hospitality from the 25th District. After 10 hours, he was released and escorted home by his closest friends to spend time with his family. He is good spirits and overwhelmed with the outpouring amount of love and support from you all. Please continue to share his story and this campaign in order to keep the momentum going.

As Levitt’s friends, our support does not stop here. These are going to be tough times for him, and this is just the beginning. We are continuing to look for ways in which we can raise money for this hero and his family. As of now, we are in the preliminary stages of planning a benefit, creating t-shirts for sale, and other efforts. If you would like to get moved involved, or have any ideas of ways in which we can spread awareness, please feel free to email donationsfordlev39@gmail.com.

Things you can do now:
- Share this page with your friends and family
- React to any negative feedback about this story on social media news outlets by sharing this campaign in the comments section. Folks who are supporting Levitt on those posts want to see how they can help! People think they know the story based on what Uncle Larry and his minions are posting. We need to get the real story out there.

Please continue to visit this campaign site for updates weekly. You can also use the comments section to show your support for Levitt as well as the Philadelphia Police Officers who put their lives on the line every day.

Thank you, all, again. To know D-Lev is to love D-Lev – we got your back, brother!

*Pictured here is a picture of Dan today at his favorite coffee shop, Ray's Cafe and Tea House located at 141 N 9th Street, Philadelphia. They have graciously offered to donate funds to this campaign and additionally gave Levitt over six pounds of coffee (we all know he'll need it). Please feel free to visit this small business who supports our brother for the best coffee in the city!
