I am raising $5,000 to purchase medical-grade masks for the brave doctors, nurses and other first responders on the frontlines of this battle. It’s time to #DoMIPart and show our frontline workers that we are grateful to them for their bravery and their service.
Each mask is ~$5 and every dollar helps. If our campaign goal of $5000 is reached, that’s over 1,200 masks!
$5 = 1 mask for a frontline worker
$10 = 2 masks for frontline workers
$20 = 4 masks for frontline workers
Michigan is one of the states most severely impacted by this growing pandemic, but our hospitals are running out of medical-grade N95 masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE), which is putting all healthcare workers (from doctors, to nurses, to techs, etc.) at extreme risks.
It's time to do our part to protect them.
For me, this is very personal. I grew up in a family of healthcare workers. My mom was a registered nurse for more than 35 years, and my older brother and sister-in-law are both physicians who are on the frontlines. I have watched firsthand the sacrifices made.
Thank you for joining me to #DoMIPart!
Fighting with you,
Where does my money go?
Great question! After you donate to Fundly, the money goes directly to purchasing the masks from a wholesaler. We have negotiated to purchase them at-cost and distribute them locally to frontline workers most in need!
Where are the masks coming from?
One of my good friends I grew up with has a supply company and helped source a wholesaler to buy the N95 medical-grade masks. His company is supplying masks to hospitals all across the country, and I wanted to #DoMIPart for our community here in Michigan!
For every patient that gets admitted to the Emergency Department, approximately 10 masks are needed, per day, under ideal conditions (single use per patient contact) for the following: ER tech, nurse, doctor, respiratory therapist, transporter, radiology tech, admitting physician, admitting nurse, etc. This drastically under-represents the real number of masks as the number 10 does not account for extra nursing, change of shift, resident physicians, registration, environmental services, etc. Bottom line, we need a lot of masks!
Why am I doing this?
It’s more important than ever that during these uncertain times, we need to have bold leaders guiding us forward. I helped donate the masks I had at home when the outbreak first hit, and I even tried sewing masks at home. I feel there is more I can do for our first responders, who are putting their lives on the line everyday to try to make things safer for us.
Is this associated with a campaign contribution?
No. Not a single penny is connected to or benefits any political campaign.
Throughout my campaign for State Representative, I have had the privilege of meeting so many members of our community. I am fortunate to have this platform to reach so many great individuals. I hope you’ll join me to help support the community of frontline healthcare workers through this effort and #DoMIPart
