2020 was a doozie on all of us. Being disabled, I cannot earn an income at all. So I've supplemented my income by collecting cans & bottles from roadside and community members. But, now I can't do that. I even purchased myself a vehicle with recycling money, wasn't much! Then, I injured myself in July, I fell as you can see in my photos, literally collecting cans on the road side at a construction site. I gouged my left ankle. What you don't see is that my right Achilles is torn, with bursitis and a spur. Didn't know until December when I got booted! I can't drive, nor walk the roadsides. We've had 8" of rain in 13 days as well!
After I hurt myself in July we were evacuated in September due to the Oregon Wildfires. Everything I had saved at that point was spent on motels, gas and eating. Now, any cans/bottles I get barely help me live, if not make ends meet. Not only do I hope to be able to make my commitments monthly, save for my escrow fees/down payment on my home, I want to travel. Getting my health and diabetes under control, loosing 50lb and still going, has made me feel more energy and life.
