This project was started in 2012 to bring together the drumline community here in Detroit, to give back to under privileged, homeless, & at-risk youth.
Detroit Drumline /Academy L3C Hi, we are finally reaching out to you in hopes of starting our organization to help our youth. Detroit Drumline is a new L3C organization of drumline professionals who perform to promote and enhance the drumming community in Detroit, and mentor children from the age of 8 to adults who take an interest in learning the techniques of marching percussion. Scholarship opportunities are our primary focus for high school students participating in our program. Our program will provide opportunities for the students to perform in parades, and all sorts of events that will allow them a chance to travel as well as perform, once they meet the required skill level that’s necessary for performance. The funds will help us develop our in-house infrastructure which consists of : (rough estimates) Rental space - (1-year) $20,000Staff (non instructors) - $10,000Practice equipment & Accessories - $30,000Drumline Equipment - $45,000Classroom Supplies and Renovations - $25,000Transportation - $10,000 (lease) Staff & Student Gear - $10,000Legal Fees - $5000Marketing - $10,000With your support we could set a standard of quality beyond just the art of percussion, but sustain and bring forth a hidden asset in our community, that can help our youth and young adults with life skills, cognitive skills, and academic skills. Your help to us means the world, and we would show our appreciation through our hard work, and dedication to the youth. Let's help restore the rhythm in our community through positive change using percussive arts.
