Hi guys! We are members of the Blair & Myanmar club from Blair Academy, a high school in New Jersey. We are a service club dedicated to improve the quality of education young children receive in Myanmar. Our team collaborate with Myanmar Bethesda Ministry organized by two Korean missionaries, who currently run a medical clinic and a kindergarten called Tawara kindergarten in Myanmar.
Many of these children don’t have the opportunity to visit a hospital due to financial issues. One of the most important problems that they tend to disregard is their dental hygiene, which is often overlooked by more severe physical injuries. Because these children lack proper education and products to maintain their teeth in good condition, they develop severe cavities and tooth decays that are left untreated for months or even years. This can lead to severe toothaches that gradually hinder their ability to eat, talk, and carry out daily tasks that we do for granted.
For this specific project, we are aiming to teach these children the importance of dental health through an online dental care curriculum we created. It includes various coloring activities, animated videos, and lesson plans that the teachers at Tawara could easily follow to enhance the children’s interest and understanding of their teeth. For instance, with fluoride varnish and its application steps provided in the curriculum, the teachers will be able to directly apply the varnish to the children's teeth to further prevent their teeth from decaying.
Our goal is to raise over $3,000, which will allow us to provide fluoride varnish, dental kits (includes children's toothbrush + toothpaste + mouthwash) and several learning tablets for them to access additional online resources. We sincerely thank you for your support. Your contribution will directly be used to provide better educational opportunities for the children in Myanmar. Every dollar counts!
