Denney Triple Threat

Denney Triple Threat

From Tom and Rachel Denney

We're having triplets! Our family of 3 will be doubling in size this summer and we need a vehicle that can transport us all. We will officially be a mini-van family with a little help from you!

Update #3

We are happy to introduce our daughters, born Friday, August 23rd at 9:31am & 9:32am.

Alexandria Grace (5lbs 3oz)
Isabelle Rose (4lbs 1oz)
Sophia Marie (4lbs 9oz)

All the girls are doing incredibly well and thriving in the NICU! Big brother George is curious about his sisters and still learning to pronounce their names. We expect each of the girls will be discharged over the next few days.

We could not be more thankful for our family and friends who have helped us during this time. And to those of you who have reached out to us individually, we hope you'll forgive the delay and accept baby snuggles as our act of contrition.

More Info

Earlier this year, our family got a BIG surprise! We were excited to add one more baby to our family. We were completely stunned when the doctor told us we would be adding THREE! That's right, this summer, we are expecting identical triplet girls.

While this news took us by shock, we are very excited to welcome these babies home and introduce them to their big brother, George, and the amazing community that surrounds us. Triplet pregnancies can be high-risk, but we are extremely lucky that all the girls are healthy and growing well. Their official due date is October 4th, but it's likely that they will arrive in August or even sooner and spend a little time in the NICU before they can come home with us.

To that end, we actually need to get them home in a vehicle that can hold our new family of 6. That's why we are asking for your help in raising funds for a new (to us) mini-van.

We have been researching for weeks to find a vehicle that meets our requirements (4 carseats at once)! We have finally narrowed it down to a 2016 Honda Odyssey. We have been saving for some time and we just need a little extra support to afford it.

Should we be lucky enough to exceed our goal, any extra funds raised will go towards a night nurse and extra help with the triplets when they arrive.

Thank you so much for reading about our growing family. We are truly grateful for any contribution. In return, there will be plenty of baby snuggles to go around soon!

Update #2

Hi everyone, we wanted to give you an update on the status of the campaign and the triplets.

First of all, thanks to everyone's generosity and promotion of the campaign, we have raised over $1,100! We feel extremely blessed and humbled by such an amazing response, and our hearts are full of gratitude for each of you. If you have not heard from me directly about your donation, please know that I will be reaching out to you soon! We found a great deal on exactly the mini-van we wanted, so we decided to purchase it early. I’m happy to report that George, in particular, loves it and wants to go somewhere in “van with lights” every day.

Second, we had some excitement over the weekend, which will mean some changes for our family in the next few weeks. Multiples pregnancies are particularly prone to a condition called preeclampsia, and, sure enough, yours truly has it. I have been admitted to KU Med to monitor my condition and keep an extra-close watch on the babies. Unfortunately, my care team has decided that I should stay here in the hospital until delivery, which could be anytime from now until the end of August. As you can imagine, this decision is a double-edged sword for us, as we want to do what is safest for our girls, but our little family of 3 will be semi-separated for up to a month. Thanks to our amazing support system (including all of you), we’ll manage this period just fine with some extra patience and good vibes/prayers.

Again, we are so grateful to all of you for your love and support. We’ll keep you updated on any new developments.

Love, Rachel & Tom

Update #1

We are 2 weeks into our campaign and we have already raised over $1,000 thanks to your generosity! We are truly humbled by this response. Thank you so much for bringing our family closer to reaching our goal.

We have more good news about the triplets. At our last appointment, the doctors told us that they are each measuring at least 2.5 pounds which is a huge achievement (no pun intended) for multiples at this stage. We can't wait to meet our baby girls, but at the same time, we are grateful they are growing so well!
