I support the great work of Horizons in our region and I hope you will too. My goal is $2500 by April 30th and we can do this!!
When cancer strikes, it doesn't know your name, doesn't care if you are a woman or a man, young or old, rich or poor. Horizons recently hosted a HOPE Survivor Retreat in Valdosta where 20 cancer survivors from the Lowndes County area got to spend a day of therapeutic art, music, and meditation. I applaud the great work Horizons does all over South Georgia. They not only care for those uninsured and underinsured to make sure they can have screenings for cancer, but they go beyond...celebrating survivorship with a day for survivors! I hope you will join me in helping to raise funds for Horizons so they continue to help people in our region. Want to do something today that will change someone's life in our community? During the organizations first annual Horizons “Day for Hope,” a day that leverages the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage generosity and philanthropic participation, every dollar raised will be used locally in South Georgia communities. For example: A one-time gift of $1,200 will provide mammograms for ten women. In addition to medical resources, Horizons also offers the community ongoing education about conditions such as cancer, obesity, diabetes, tobacco control and more.
Horizons has linked together with other organizations and individuals, making it possible to include all community members in Day for Hope. A day-long challenge campaign is scheduled to air on WALB that will include testimonials from patients, physicians, and community leaders.
The Day for Hope will also include a ribbon cutting and open house at the new office located at 2332 Lake Park Drive. Join us to raise Hope for southwest Georgia.
