That Dam Swim/Hike for Hope will take place on September 23, 2017 at Fontana Lake. Hikers Benny Braden and Dewy Slusher will hike the Lake Shore Trail while Chris Lechner and Jim Cottam swim to Fontana Dam.
To broaden our horizons Chris Lechner will be going to the dam on a stand-up paddle board. Not just from Almond but all the way from Bryson City. 29 miles!!!!!! See his route attached.

To honor loved ones who are breast cancer survivors
How do they do it?
With a whole lot of help from a team of volunteers, donors and support team.
They are motivated by the challenges cancer survivors overcome everyday battling cancer
They want to honor those who have been lost to this disease and swim in memory of loved ones.
Who will this years event benefit?
To benefit The Hope Chest for Women, a local nonprofit in WNC that helps beast and gynecologic cancer patients.The Hope Chest for Women provides emotional, educational and financial support to women at risk or diagnosed with female specific cancers.
