Dear Family and Friends,

Greetings from the island of Penang, Malaysia! Let me introduce you to my class, the Junior Class at Dalat International School. Dalat is a private international school for expatriate and Malaysian students. This year our school has over 700 students, 65 of whom are in our class. Students in our class come from seven nations around the world.

Each year Dalat’s Junior Class is involved in a number of important activities. These activities are designed to honor the senior class, serve the school community, and reach out beyond the school walls to our local community. To provide the resources to accomplish these goals, we will engage in a variety of fundraising activities throughout the year including managing a store, selling food at concessions for school events, and other creative activities. This is in order to raise the money needed for events to honor the senior class as well as for our own senior trip, graduation activities, class gift, and blessing the community around us.

Our next significant project will be a workday for the benefit of the community here in Penang. We have been asked by the Women’s Welfare Council to do some work at their facilities. The Women’s Welfare Council includes a hostel for single working women, a shelter for unwed mothers, and a nursery to care for the children of low-income parents.  We will be doing some landscaping, cleaning, painting, and repairing a wall. We will divide into work teams to accomplish these tasks on October 24. Our hope is to make a positive and cheerful difference in our local community by working together on these projects!

I would like to invite you to play a part in this “Servathon” by sponsoring me as I serve my community. You may donate a certain amount per hour worked (for example $4.00/hour = $32.00) or contribute a donation of any amount you choose. We will be accepting donations all year, and your contribution will help support this and the other class activities for which we must raise funds. I would appreciate it very much if you would sponsor me and support my class in this way. On behalf of the Class of 2021 and our sponsors, I thank you for taking the time to read this letter and consider how you can help!

Contributions may be sent in a variety of ways! We have a Fundly page where you can donate online:  http://fundly.com/dalat-class-of-2021-servathon. If you are in Malaysia, you can also make a transfer from a local bank to the school’s Maybank account: 007143403698. Then, please send an email to the school’s finance office (accounts@dalat.org) with information about how much you donated and that it is for the Servathon on my behalf. You can also send a check or money order payable to “Dalat International School Sdn. Bhd.” (Please do not send cash through the mail). The school can easily cash checks or money orders from other countries. Please write“for deposit only” on the back of the check and send it to the following address:

You can count on me to put in a full day of work, and your sponsorship will help my class accomplish our goals! Thank you very much for your support.

Sincerely,

Dalat Class of 2021
